Who is Jeremy Moussa? Three things to know about Florida A&M's quarterback

ACC Network announcers Matt Barrie and Tim Hasselbeck spent a lot of time hyping up North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye, but it seems Florida A&M's signal caller may be showing he belongs on the big stage too.

Jeremy Moussa just earned the starting job for the Rattlers this week. In the first half, this new face for FAMU has thrown a touchdown pass and set up a second scoring drive.

Who is the Rattlers' new well-traveled QB, helping FAMU keep things close against the Tar Heels?

Jeremy Moussa is originally from California

Moussa is from Chino Hills, Calif., where he attended Eleanor Roosevelt High School. He threw for more than 7,000 yards in high school, breaking "virtually every" passing record for Roosevelt, according to Vanderbilt's athletic department.

After originally signing with Hawaii and playing in two games for the Rainbow Warriors, Moussa ended up back in California, playing for San Bernardino Valley College. He led that team to a 9-2 record and a conference title. Moussa finished with 3,179 passing yards, 37 touchdowns, and nine interceptions on a 53 percent completion rate before breaking his ankle to end his season.

Moussa then moved east, heading to Vanderbilt in 2020 and spending two seasons with the Commodores.

He ended up in three games for Vandy -- most of his action came in a 2021 blowout loss to Mississippi State. Moussa went 5-for-8 for 24 yards in that 45-6 loss.

Jeremy Moussa beat out Resean McKay for FAMU's starting QB job

Moussa arrived in Tallahassee in the spring as a graduate transfer, and played in the Orange and Green Game. He also impressed in the team's second fall scrimmage, and ended up beating out the 2021 starter, Resean McKay, for the starting job.

FAMU coach Willie Simmons won't rule out snaps for McKay, though.
