Spotify users are sharing a tool which creates a pie chart based on their music tastes.

The free site turns a user's monthly streaming history into a colourful graphic, broken down by every genre they have listened to.

It also includes niche micro-genres – from indietronica to Canadian metalcore – and generates a list of a user's most-played artists.

These eye-catching pie charts have spread across social media by people keen to share off their listening habits. Here is our simple guide to using the tool.

How to create your own Spotify pie chart

The third-party service can be accessed via this dedicated website. It is free to use and works on both mobile and desktop.

You will have to log in via Spotify and give the site permission to view your listening history. It will then generate your pie chart, which you can screenshot and share online.

If you are prone to skipping songs, be aware that streams are only counted if you listen for at least 30 seconds.

The tool is not compatible with other streaming services, such as Apple Music or Tidal.

Where else to find your Spotify listening statistics

There are several other third-party sites that analyse and visualise your Spotify listening history. These include:

Every December, the streaming service releases its own tool – Spotify Wrapped – which breaks down users' listening habits throughout the year.

However, it does not provide any daily or monthly data, meaning that listeners often turn to fan-made alternatives.
