Oregon State senior Kaylee Mitchell set a school record Saturday in the indoor 3,000 meters at a meet in Boston.

Mitchell, a Sprague High School graduate, ran an 8:55.10 at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener for the Beavers, breaking the previous school record of 8:58.39.

Mitchell’s teammate, Grace Fetherstonhaugh, also broke the previous school record with a time of 8:55.71.

“That was a world class races by both Kaylee and Grace,” Oregon State coach Louis Quintana said in a release from Oregon State. “The NCAA is as competitive as it ever has been and they are running amongst a historic group. What a huge day for them.”

Mitchell is now third on the all-time Pac-12 list with her performance.
