Spray parks in the Rochester area: Times, locations, closures
From Chili to Webster, outdoor spray parks and splash pads have surged in popularity around Monroe County in recent years.
With summer fully underway and temperatures on the rise, many locals are looking for low-cost options to beat the heat. Most spray parks in the area opened for the season by Memorial Day weekend.
Most local spray parks are free for regular use by residents and non-residents. These splash pads are among the most popular in Monroe County:
Webster spray parks
There are two spray parks in Webster, at Ridgecrest Park on Ebner Drive and at Webster First Responders Park on Chiyoda Drive. Both spray parks are free and open from dawn to dusk through Labor Day.
Ridgecrest has a splash pad with fountains, palm trees and dumping buckets. Fittingly, a firetruck is the focal point of the splash pad at First Responders Park, which opened in 2014. The truck sprays water and doubles as a water slide, which is surrounded by other firefighting features that spritz water including traffic cones, a Dalmatian dog and a large firefighter's helmet that dumps water on children below. There's a large pavilion and playground, also with a first responder theme, just next to the spray park.
East Rochester splash pad
A pirate-themed spray park opened in 2016 at Edmund Lyon Park in East Rochester. The town-operated splash zone is located off Madison Street and features a small pirate ship, spraying cannons and a treasure chest. There's no fee to use the spray park, which is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Labor Day.
Irondequoit spray park
The wildly popular spray park at Camp Eastman was revamped in 2016 and is nearing the end of its latest improvement project with all but one feature operational. Located in the town park off Lake Shore Boulevard, the spray park is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily through Labor Day. There's no fee to use the spray park, which features dumping buckets and sprinklers. There's also a nearby shelter with picnic tables and a large playground.
Sweden/Brockport splash pad
The splash pad, which opened in 2020 in Sweden Town Park, 4761 Redman Road, Sweden, features spinning balls, palm trees and dumping buckets. Open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through Labor Day, the splash pad is located at the rear of the park, near a handicapped accessible playground and a picnic pavilion. There's no fee to use the splash pad.
Ogden splash pads
There are two splash pads in Pineway Ponds Park on North Union Street in Spencerport. It is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., daily through Labor Day. (The first visitors of the day will need to hit a red button to start the waterworks.) The larger splash pad has ground sprays, dumping buckets and sprinklers. The smaller splash pad has squirting, life-size sea creatures. Both areas are surrounded by picnic tables and trees. Currently, the rainbow sprinkler feature is not working, but will be repaired before the 2024 season. There's no fee to use the pad unless visiting with a large group of a eight or more. (Cost varies by size of group and resident status.)
Chili spray park
This small spray park opened in 2016 at Union Station Park in Chili, and has been wildly popular on hot summer days. Located next to a traditional playground, the splash pad has several features that douse visitors with water. There's no fee to use the spray park, which is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., daily through Labor Day.
Greece spray park
The "Wild over Water" zoo-themed splash pad opened in 2015 at the Town Hall campus, just off Long Pond Road. With dumping buckets, spraying animals and other ground sprays and sprinklers, the splash pad is the largest in the Rochester region. The spray park is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., daily through Labor Day. Greece residents can access the splash pad for free, but must have a key-tag to enter. For non-residents, the splash pad fee is $5 per person. Payment is only in cash.
Mendon spray park
This new spray park is located at Dreisbach Field, 141 Semmel Road in Mendon and opened in May. It is temporarily closed due to revamp the spray park's slippery concrete surface and is expected to reopen by mid-July. There is no fee to use the splash pad, which has a large dumping bucket, ground sprays, sprinklers and other spray features. Once re-open, hours will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Labor Day.
Rochester spray parks/splash pads
There are numerous spray parks and splash pads at recreation centers and parks throughout the city, open daily from noon to 8 p.m. through Labor Day. The splash pad at the Humboldt Recreation Center on Atlantic Avenue is closed for the summer as it is revamped and will reopen in 2024.
