‘Spreading the warmth’ – QC shop helps give hoodies, hats to less fortunate
To help spread the warmth on a snowy day, QC Custom Tees in Davenport partnered with the Christian Care homeless shelter in Rock Island to help give out more than 100 hoodies and hats to those less fortunate.
“It couldn’t be a more awesome time to have them be dropped off. A little bit of snow brings out everything,” said Christian Care Executive Director Frank Roe
Roe says the need for warm essential items is high.
“We want to make sure that any barriers that an individual may be having, we try to get rid of them so they can continue to go on and be productive citizens,” said Roe.
QC Custom Tees sales specialist Bruce Mace says the campaign was made possible from fundraising in the community.
“We want to make a difference to our community,” said Mace. “We want to make sure that they understand that we are not just here to make money for ourselves and everything else but essentially we want to give back to the community. There is nothing stronger than to give back to a community.”
Giving back to the community is nothing new for QC Custom Tees. The shop also set up a fundraiser to help out an East Moline police officer who was assaulted in 2022.
“We raised not only the shirt, produced the shirt, but we also gave a nice gift of financial resources to the family to help out with their cost with the hospital.”
They also helped out restaurants during COVID-19 when everything shut down.
“We ended up coming up with a campaign called We Got This. We would end up raising enough money for any of the local restaurants that were shut down and while they’re closed,” said QC Custom Tees Marketing Director Sean Rupp. “We raised over $20,000 to give back to local restaurants.”
That’s where the mission of giving to the community began for QC Custom Tees and it continued Friday. Roe also said the generosity couldn’t have come at a better time.
“To come in, light snow is falling, I was like ‘OK’ and now we have all of this to hand out so that’s an awesome thing,” said Roe. “These are all the kind of things that we want to make sure that we provide to meet the needs of the people that need it most.”
