Spring blossom lightens lockdown-tired Germans

The cherry blossom in Bonn draws visitors from all over the world for its annual blossoming, this year it is being thwarted on two fronts: strict coronavirus crowd restrictions and unseasonal snow that has dampened the blooms a little.

Still for people wanting some relief from the endless corona news the old town street is still a pretty in pink welcome distraction.

"It is so beautiful and romantic and it is a fantastic feeling, as if you were in love, that's the feeling this surrounding gives you," said one visitor, Lenka Lachmann.

Officials were on patrol to keep numbers of visitors to a minimum.
