Spring is in full bloom at Macy’s Flower Show

A rite of spring returned to Herald Square with the Sunday opening of the annual Macy’s Flower Show.

The display of glorious blossoms from around the world was a welcome site to New Yorkers after a decidedly dreary pandemic year.

“It definitely feels good to see these sorts of things pop up again — even a little bit hopeful,” said a 58-year-old who gave his name as Michael.

The floral extravaganza was installed all over the flagship Macy’s store in Midtown. The main entrance is surrounded by pink floral walls, while windows facing Broadway are full of purple, blue and green hues.

Inside, there are hanging gardens, trellises crammed with flowers and more.

“There are a million, kabillion flowers,” exclaimed 4-year old Ava, who was taking snapshots with her mom in front of one of the colorful displays. “They are all so beautiful, but my favorites are the purples.”

The show is set to run during regular store hours until Sunday, May 16.
