Spring Hill to host Lamar Jackson Golf Tournament

Oct. 12—TIFTON — The annual Lamar Jackson Golf Tournament will be back at Spring Hill Country Club, Monday, Oct. 24.

Tee off will be at 1 p.m., said Tiftarea YMCA CEO Jason Bishoff. A lunch will precede the tournament's physical start. No early morning tee times are set for for now, but there is a chance they could be added, he said.

"It is an event we do in honor of Lamar Jackson," said the Y's Adam Brown, who is helping organize the event. More than 30 have signed up for the tournament.

The tournament is not just a fundraiser for the YMCA, but one of their biggest ones, Bishoff said. Their pitch line on the flyer is "Sponsorships drive the community forward."

"Those funds are put right back into the community," said Brown, including into outreach programs, after-school programs and summer kids' activities. There are different after-school programs, said Bishoff, which are take place all over Tifton. The Tiftarea YMCA will be in the new youth center in south Tifton near Matt Wilson Elementary, when it opens, an event coming up soon.

"I'm very grateful for the sponsors," said Bishoff.
