Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch Flooded

Monsoonal floods that swept across much of the American Southwest this week caused flooding at the Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch in Pahrump, Nevada, shutting down operations on at least one of the facility's tracks for at least a week or more, according to local reports, until the mud and debris flows can be cleared up. “The water came rushing down the mountain and, normally, it comes from different directions. This is the first time that we’ve seen it come from, more or less, the right (east) side,” Spring Mountain’s Todd Crutcher told KTNV Channel 13 Las Vegas. “This is actually a race track you see, and now it’s just like one big pond.”

The flooding also hit some of the homes that surround the track, coating several in mud. It was described as the worst flooding in 18 years at the track. “It came rushing through the homes,” Crutcher said. “And then, sadly, the owners’ belongings were floating on the track.”

The debris continued across the local road parallel to the ranch.

“We had severe flooding in the area of the Spring Mountain Motorsports facility that went over Highway 160 and temporarily closed it for about an hour and a half,” Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue Chief Scott Lewis told the local Pahrump Valley Times.

An update from Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch has not been released, and we are waiting for an update on the track. Numerous automakers, particularly General Motors, have used the track for media test drives of high-performance cars.
