One of the most talented athletes at Spring Valley Hall has switched sports and landed with the Illini football program.

Mac Resetich has signed to play defensive back for the University of Illinois, the school announced Wednesday.

"It was the best fit for me," Resetich said in a release, picking up the offer this weekend after a visit.

Resetich is a 6-foot, 205-pound three-sport star from Hall, located about 60 miles north of Peoria in Spring Valley.

Resetich originally committed to play baseball at Black Hawk College in Moline. The football all-stater set Hall's single-season program records for rushing yards and touchdowns — and also has scored 1,000 career points for Hall's basketball team. He is a top-500 recruit nationally for baseball, according to Perfect Game.

"He's obviously a great athlete, but he brings great leadership and more of a quiet leader. I didn't ever see him get mad at a teammate," Hall coach Randy Tieman told Illini Inquirer. "… He's just a great kid and a great athlete, and he's going to bring great leadership down there in everything he does."

According to Illini Inquirer, Resetich is the Illini's ninth in-state signee this class and 20th overall in two years under coach Bret Bielema. Also headed to Illinois from the Peoria area is El Paso-Gridley punter Declan Duley.
