Drug deal gone bad, led to juvenile injuries and one arrest in Springdale

SPRINGDALE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Springdale Police Department arrested an 18-year-old concerning a Thursday shooting that injured one.

Asher Potter was charged with 1st-degree battery after he said others were attacking him.

The probable cause says that video evidence shows Potter flee an altercation and fire twice.

A juvenile was injured and taken to a local hospital where “the projectile had shattered their tibia,” the probable cause states.

Police say that Potter went to the location to buy “wax,” but when he arrived the individuals there began to attack him so he fled and fired twice.

When the individuals were interviewed, one admitted attempting to “jump” Potter, the probable cause states.

Potter’s bond is pending. He will have a hearing on Monday, Feb. 12.


Springdale police are investigating a shooting that took place on Thursday afternoon, according to Sgt. Matt Ray.

Sgt. Ray confirmed the shooting took place in the area of Park Street and Caudle Avenue.

Once officers arrived on scene they found a juvenile with a gunshot wound, according to a news release.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment with non-life-threatening and is in stable condition.

SPD believes this is an isolated incident and no arrests have been made.

SPD says the investigation is ongoing.
