Here are the Springfield area girls basketball teams advancing to sectionals

Only eight girls basketball teams remain in the Illinois High School Association playoffs for the Springfield area.

Lincoln and Rochester rolled in their regional finals in Class 3A while Staunton made history in 2A.

Here are the Springfield area teams that advanced to the sectional semifinals set for Tuesday.

CLASS 3A

Lincoln (32-0)

  • How they won: Top-seeded Lincoln posted another running clock victory over No. 4 Champaign Central, 74-37 in the Bloomington Regional final on Friday. The Railsplitters, ranked No. 2 in the final 3A poll by The Associated Press, previously thrashed the Maroons 55-21 in January. Star junior guard Kloe Froebe had 21 points by halftime and finished with 33. Becca Heitzig (12 points) and Tori Geriets (10) also reached double figures.

What’s next: Lincoln advances to the Rochester Sectional semifinals against No. 2 seed Mount Zion (23-8) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Mount Zion rallied past Chatham Glenwood 48-44 in its regional final.

Rochester (26-7)

  • How they won: The top-seeded host Rockets cruised to a 24-4 halftime lead and led by as much as 30-4 in a 44-21 regional final win over No. 4 Springfield High on Thursday. Senior duo Emma Dixon and Kaylen Reed combined for 30 points. Dixon shot 7 of 10 from the field and led the Rockets with 16 points.

What’s next: Rochester faces Mahomet-Seymour (24-9) in the Rochester Sectional semifinals on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The Bulldogs walloped Normal West 58-26 in their regional final.

CLASS 2A

Staunton (26-6)

  • How they won: Top-seeded Staunton dashed to a 10-point lead by the end of the third quarter after a tie at the break en route to a 44-31 victory over No. 6 Alton Marquette and its first regional title in school history on Thursday. The Bulldogs outscored Marquette 17-7 in the third for a 33-23 advantage. Senior Haris Legendre led Staunton with 13 of her game-high 17 points in the second half. She also had 15 rebounds. Lilly Bandy added 11 points.

What’s next: Staunton heads into the Pleasant Plains Sectional semifinals against No. 3 seed Camp Point Central/Southeastern (30-4) on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The Panthers clipped No. 2 Petersburg PORTA/A-C Central 31-28 and No. 5 Pleasant Plains 36-35 in their two regional final wins.

Hillsboro (20-11)

  • How they won: No. 2 seed Hillsboro strolled to a 56-39 regional final victory over No. 3 Pittsfield after grabbing an early 17-7 lead by the end of the first quarter on Friday. Layne Rupert led the Hiltoppers with 15 points while Alex Frailey had 14 points and eight rebounds.

  • What’s next: Hillsboro advances to the Pleasant Plains Sectional semifinals against top-seeded and defending 2A state champion Quincy Notre Dame (31-1) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. QND topped No. 4 Sacred Heart-Griffin 54-43 in its regional final.

Pana (23-9)

  • How they won: Anna Beyers and Chloe Ashcraft each registered a double-double and No. 2 Pana crushed No. 3 Tolono Unity 50-28 for the regional title on Thursday. Beyers totaled 17 points and 12 rebounds while Ashcraft had 16 points and 11 rebounds. Aryn Alde tallied five assists, four steals, two points and two rebounds.

  • What’s next: The Panthers host the sectional semifinals against Teutopolis on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The Wooden Shoes, 26-5 and ranked No. 7 in 2A by The Associated Press, dispatched Mount Carmel 45-25 in their regional final. No. 1 Paris (28-3) and No. 2 Robinson (21-8) meet in the other semifinal.

CLASS 1A

Havana (29-4)

  • How they won: No. 3 host Havana rallied from a five-point deficit in the fourth quarter and toppled No. 1 Mendon Unity 55-50 in the regional final on Thursday. Havana converted 11 of 13 free throw attempts in the final stanza. Taryn Wickman led Havana with 22 points while Josie Hughes had 13.

  • What’s next: Havana will meet No. 3 Annawan (25-7) in the Abingdon-Avon Sectional semifinals on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Annawan ousted Brimfield 51-39. No. 1 Elmwood (28-5) and No. 3 Mount Sterling Brown County (30-3) meet in the other semifinal.

Mount Pulaski (25-8)

  • How they won: No. 2 Mount Pulaski outscored No. 3 Cerro Gordo-Bement 15-4 in the third quarter to claim its second straight regional title with a 58-47 victory. Alyson Murphy had five of her game-high 18 points in the third period. Murphy shot 7 of 8 from the free throw line and converted one 3. Alexis Wade tallied nine of her 14 points in the first half. Hailee Daigh mustered 10 points, including six in the first quarter for the early 20-14 lead.

  • What’s next: The Hilltoppers advance to the Lexington Sectional semifinals against top-seeded Cissna Park on Tuesday at 6 p.m. No. 1 Champaign St. Thomas More (25-6) and No. 2 Watseka (25-7) meet in the other semifinal.

Jacksonville Routt (17-12)

  • How they won: Cami Hurt chalked up 16 points and 17 rebounds to catapult Jacksonville Routt to a 46-34 victory over Carrollton and the team’s second straight regional title on Friday. Jaymee Vollmer added 10 points for the Rockets, who took the season series 2-1.

  • What’s next: The No. 5 Rockets host top-seeded Okawville (29-4) in the sectional semifinals on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Okawville, ranked No. 2 in the final Associated Press Class 2A poll, dominated Nokomis 50-10 in its regional final. No. 1 Hardin Calhoun meets No. 3 Carlyle in the other semifinal.
