The Springfield area's top performances from Week 5 of the high school football season
Each week, The State Journal-Register will take a look at the top-performing teams and players from Friday night games across the Springfield area.
Players from Rochester and Sacred Heart-Griffin lead our top performers for Week 5.
Zane Hogan, North Mac
The senior running back rushed for 200 yards and a touchdown as unbeaten North Mac (5-0) romped Hillsboro 38-0 in a home South Central Conference game. Hogan carried the ball 11 times and accumulated an average of 18.2 yards per touch. His touchdown was a 63-yard run and North Mac finished with 347 ground yards, including getting 90 rushing yards from senior Kaden Brown.

Jack Rouse, Carlinville
The junior running back scored four touchdowns and racked up 217 yards on 27 carries in Carlinville's 34-21 home victory over Staunton in the South Central Conference. Rouse had three of those TDs in the first half that covered 1, 20 and 45 yards to help Carlinville (2-3) take a 27-7 lead into halftime. His final TD was a 13-yard run in the third quarter. Junior quarterback Rex Reels contributed in the win, completing 11 of 13 passes for 142 yards and a touchdown.
Ian Lichtenberger, Rochester
The senior fullback totaled 16 carries for 111 yards and two touchdowns in a 27-14 Central State Eight Conference victory over Class 6A No. 5 Chatham Glenwood at Rocket Booster Stadium. He also supported a pivotal defensive stand for 4A No. 5 Rochester late in the second quarter with a pass deflection in the linebacker position.

Max Lynch, Pana
The senior quarterback had five touchdowns, stacked up 371 yards of total offense and carried Pana to a 35-21 South Central Conference road win over Piasa Southwestern. Lynch rushed for 194 yards on 18 carries with two scores and completed 11 of 20 passes for 177 yards and three more TDs. Pana improved to 4-1.
Colin Johannes, Sacred Heart-Griffin
The senior defensive back nabbed two interceptions — both in the first quarter — in a 52-0 Central State Eight Conference win over Decatur MacArthur at Ken Leonard Field. His second pick set up a 19-yard touchdown pass by senior quarterback Ty Lott to senior receiver Jack Western for Class 4A No. 2 SHG's 21-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.
