A Springfield City Schools bus driver was honored after she took action when she saw a fire.

She grabbed her bus’ portable fire extinguisher and was able to put the fire out before Springfield firefighters arrived on scene, according to the post.

“Her decisive intervention prevented a small fire from becoming a much large tragedy,” the post states.

Skabla was present with the award on the last day of the school year.
