Springfield Fire Department says no injuries in fire that closed down East Walnut Street
No one was injured in a fire in the 1000 block of East Walnut Street, according to the Springfield Fire Department. The fire was controlled by 12:44 p.m., and the street was closed to traffic during the afternoon.
As of 3 p.m., the investigation into the cause of the fire was ongoing, said Springfield Fire Department Assistant Chief Bryan Newberry.
We are currently working a house fire in the 1000 block of East Walnut. The street is currently closed to through traffic. The fire is under control and no injuries suspected.
