Springfield basketball player Danaeja Romero-Ah Sam is The Register-Guard's Athlete of the Week.

Romero-Ah Sam won the newspaper's poll for top area athletes, which is voted on by readers.

The junior scored 15 points in the Miller's 62-25 win over Churchill on Jan. 17.

The senior is averaging 15.4 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game this season.

Luke Cheek, Harrisburg wrestling

The defending state champion went 6-0 with six falls to help lead Harrisburg to win the Oregon Wrestling Classic for the first time in school history Jan. 13-15.
