Springfield man dies from injuries sustained in November motorcycle crash

This week, the Springfield Police Department announced that a November single-vehicle motorcycle crash turned fatal after the driver of the motorcycle, Dale Goben, 52 of Springfield, died of his injuries.

On Nov. 20, officers were called out to the 900 block of West Sunshine Street at about 5:40 p.m. after it was reported that a motorcycle crash had occurred.

According to police, the initial investigation of the crash indicated that Goben was driving a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle west on Sunshine Street near Grant Avenue on the most “inside lane of traffic” when he lost control of his motorcycle after attempting to avoid a vehicle that had pulled onto Sunshine from a parking lot.

Goben sustained severe injuries and was taken to a hospital where he later died on Nov. 25, according to police.

Officers with Springfield Police Department’s Traffic Section are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash and ask that anyone with information about the incident contact Springfield Police at (417) 864-1810.

Goben’s death marks the 28th traffic fatality in Springfield this year.
