Springfield Mayor Jim Langfelder said Saturday he will return to work at the Municipal Building Tuesday.

Langfelder tested positive for COVID-19 on Jan. 9 as did his wife, Billie. A daughter who lives with the couple tested positive on Jan. 8.

Langfelder has been isolating at home where he's been working remotely.

The mayor said his symptoms remained more related to a cold even as the week went on. He said Saturday he is feeling better.

Langfelder will be required to wear a face mask at work.

Langfelder said he watched Tuesday's committee of the whole meeting. He is expected to preside over Tuesday's full city council meeting, keeping intact his perfect attendance at council meetings since he was elected mayor in 2015.

Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a holiday for city workers.

Meanwhile, the city has set budget hearings beginning Jan. 24. All meetings are in city council chambers beginning at 5:30 p.m.
