The city of Springfield’s next curbside branch pickup will begin in the northwest quadrant on Aug. 1.

That quadrant includes areas north of South Grand Avenue and Old Jacksonville Road and west of Walnut Street/J. David Jones Parkway.

Each residence will receive one pickup in August. Branches must be placed curbside by 7 a.m. on Monday of the area’s pickup week.

Branch piles should be no larger than three feet in height, four feet in depth and 10 feet in length.  Piles larger than a small pickup load will not be picked up by the city.

No firewood or precut logs will be accepted. Branches and limbs trimmed by a commercial contractor will not be picked up.

Branches must be placed on the curbnot obstructing the street or sidewalk and are not allowed on center boulevards.

The branch pickup is a different program from the city’s yard waste collection which is a bi-weekly, year-round program.

Residents also may drop off branches to Evans Recycling, 2100 J. David Jones Pkwy., with proof of residency (showing your City Water, Light & Power bill) until the end of March 2023. This service is not for commercial contractors.

Evans Recycling is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Pickup for the southwest quadrant (areas south of South Grand Avenue and Old Jacksonville Road and west of Walnut Street) begins the week of Aug. 8. Pickup for the southeast quadrant (areas south of South Grand Avenue and east of Walnut Street, including the properties around Lake Springfield) begins the week of Aug. 15 and pickup for the northeast quadrant (areas north of South Grand Avenue and east of Walnut/J. David Jones Parkway) begins the week of Aug. 22.

Complete information including a map indicating where branch pic-up crews are working is available on the city’s website, www.springfield.il.us, under the “Residents” tab and “Branch Pickup” button.

The final branch collection for 2022 is in November.
