A Springfield Township police officer who died in an on-duty crash last week will be honored at a public funeral service today.

Officer Tim Unwin was in a two-vehicle crash while responding to an "officer needs assistance" call in North College Hill on Friday.

The crash claimed Unwin's life and the life of the other driver, William Dunson. Few details have been released about the crash, including which car struck which.

Where and when will Tim Unwin's funeral be?

Spring Grove Funeral Home is handling the funeral. The public service will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at its 4389 Spring Grove Ave. location in the main event center, which follows a visitation starting at 9 a.m.

It will proceed to Arlington Memorial Gardens in Springfield Township.

The procession will leave the funeral home around noon and travel to Arlington Memorial Gardens at 2145 Compton Road.

  • East on Spring Grove Avenue.

  • North on Winton Road.

  • West on Compton Road, passing Springfield Township Police Department headquarters.

A graveside service will take place after the procession, which is expected to arrive at the cemetery by 12:30 p.m.
