Springfield weekend events include Christmas party, chance to meet two former NFL stars

A Christmas party, pre-Kwanzaa Expo and fundraiser for the Lincoln Land Down Syndrome Society are among this weekend's events in Springfield.

Springfield Sigmas Christmas party

The Springfield chapter of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity will host a Christmas party on Friday.

The event will take place at 8 p.m. at the Inn at 835, 835 S. Second St.

There will be a DJ, refreshments, silent auction and a variety of activities. All proceeds will go toward the fraternity’s scholarship fund.

Tickets are $35.

27th annual Pre-Kwanzaa Expo

Make your Kwanzaa celebration memorable this year by finding gifts at the 27th annual Pre-Kwanzaa Expo on Saturday.

The event, hosted by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Springfield Ball Charter School, 2530 E Ash St.

There will be a variety of vendors, live performances and a food truck. Admission is free.

Obed & Issacs Kringle Market

Sample holiday drinks and more at the Kringle Christmas Market on Saturday.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Obed and Isaac's Microbrewery, 500 S. Sixth St.

There will be local craft vendors, live performances and a variety of activities. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Holiday Sip & Shop

Roberts Seafood market will host its annual Holiday Sip and shop on Saturday.

The event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at 1615 W. Jefferson St.

There will be free hot chocolate, a live oyster station, a bar, and raffles for a holiday gift basket. Santa will be present for pictures from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m.

Touchdowns for Down Syndrome

Watch the Chicago Bears versus Green Bay Packers game on Sunday while supporting a cause at Touchdowns for Down Syndrome.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Route 66 Motorheads, 600 Toronto Road.

The game will be displayed in the motordome and there will be a silent auction and live raffles.

Pro football Hall of Famers Leroy Butler (Packers) and Jim Covert (Bears) will be present for autographs before the game and at half time.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children age 12 and younger. All proceeds will support the Lincoln Land Down Syndrome Society.
