Five weeks after authorities started looking for him, Springfield's alleged "Superman" bank robber is in custody in Greene County.

Scott Alan Tyner, 50, was booked into Greene County Jail on Thursday by U.S. Marshals for a Sept. 29 robbery of Legacy Bank and Trust on South National Avenue.

Tyner was arrested Oct. 13 in Mississippi after several news outlets reported he allegedly robbed a bank in Huntsville, Alabama on Oct. 6, a week after the Springfield incident.

The man in the Springfield bank robbery was seen on surveillance wearing a Superman T-shirt and gym shorts when police say he robbed the Legacy Bank and Trust and escaped on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

A Friday court filing noted that Tyner slid a note on a teller counter that read, “This is a robbery," and that the teller gave Tyner $5,560 before he left the bank. He scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Tyner was arrested in connection with the alleged Huntsville robbery on Oct. 13 in Tishomingo County, Mississippi, which is just across the border from Alabama. During a hearing in that county, his case was sent to the Western District of Missouri for other charges.

Minutes from his Oct. 13 appearance in Mississippi say Tyner was "advised of the charges charged out of the Western District of Missouri and his rights in the arresting district. (Tyner) exercised his right to have his Identity Hearing, Preliminary Hearing and Detention Hearing in the Western District of Missouri."

Authorities in Mississippi said that Tyner was believed to be connected to a bank robbery in Springfield, where the Jonesboro, Arkansas, native has previous criminal history dating back to 2015.
