Sprinklers on Highway 111 in Indian Wells were going off in the rain

Indian Wells is watering lawns while it is actively raining, and during the middle of the day. Two wrongs shock the conscience. This is not ok! Has Indian Wells somehow been given an exemption from the serious drought we are all in while the rest of us must conserve? As we drove along Highway 111 through Indian Wells while it was actively raining during the middle of the day, several HOAs and resorts were watering their lush lawns all along the Indian Wells stretch of Highway 111. Time for flow restrictors to be installed on those water meters. Why is the Coachella Valley Water District not stepping up to the plate with conservation enforcement?

We must call out the House Majority lies starting now

The new Republican House majority is a collection of election deniers, QAnon conspiracists and political arsonists hellbent on gaining power at the expense of our democracy. They’ll be in control of the House of Representatives for the next two years and have already shown an inability to govern and or elect a Speaker of the House without historic chaos. We should all be concerned about their far-right extremist agenda. Already on the chopping block? Our freedom to vote and our right to an abortion.Rather than focusing on kitchen table issues, these MAGA extremists are pledging to focus on punishing anyone who tried to hold them accountable for their attacks on our democracy, including members and staff of the January 6th Select Committee. It’s up to us to resist this MAGA House majority to protect our democracy and our freedoms. We must call out their lies and combat their far-right agenda starting now.Erika Ramirez, Desert Hot Springs

Glad the House drama is over

Thank heavens the drama is over and Congress can get down to the serious matters of business like the Biden laptop. I was moved to tears twice on Jan. 6: First was when the many heroes of that dreadful day received their Presidential Citizens Medals of honor. The second was when Santos and Gaetz stood side by side to take the oath of office.
