Sprouts Farmers Market to host grand opening weekend at new West Melbourne store

Sprouts Farmers Market will celebrate its first Space Coast store during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:45 a.m. Friday — and the doors will open to shoppers at 7.

The newly built healthy grocery is located at 4460 Hollywood Blvd. in the West Melbourne Interchange Center, at the northwest corner of Palm Bay Road and Hollywood Boulevard.

“I am incredibly excited to welcome the arrival of Sprouts Farmers Market to West Melbourne,” Mayor Hal Rose said in a press release.

“In addition to providing fresh, healthy, and specialty foods to our residents, Sprouts also creates hundreds of job opportunities for our Brevard County community," Rose said.

The first 200 shoppers Friday and Saturday will receive a free reusable goodie bag filled with special products and samples. On Sunday, Bundle X Joy will offer dog treats. Customers who text WEST to 777-688 will receive 20% off their purchase during the grand opening weekend Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The West Melbourne specialty food retailer will open daily from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. For information, visit sprouts.com/store/fl/west-melbourne/hollywood-blvd/

Brevard County's second Sprouts is slated for construction in northern Melbourne at a future shopping plaza on 17.8 acres at the southeast corner of North Wickham Road and Business Center Boulevard, across from Home Depot.

Labeled Pineda Commons, this plaza's opening construction phase will also include the Space Coast's first EōS Fitness and 7,500 square feet of retail shops, Jerry Hart, a Tampa-based Barclay Group executive vice president, told FLORIDA TODAY last month.

The Melbourne City Council unanimously approved a Pineda Commons site plan and preliminary plat on July 25. During that meeting, Community Development Director Cindy Dittmer displayed a PowerPoint rendering of the future Sprouts store.

Headquartered in Phoenix, Sprouts employs about 31,000 people and operated 391 stores in 23 states as of July 2. Second-quarter net sales totaled $1.7 billion, up 6% from the same period last year.

Corporate plans call for 11 more Sprouts store openings during the third quarter in Florida, Colorado, Arizona, New Jersey, Texas and California.

The company conducted two employee hiring events last month at Hilton Melbourne Rialto Place to build a West Melbourne crew of about 80 full- and part-time workers.

Officials will donate the store's groceries that are no longer fit for sale but remain edible to Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.
