Spurgeon Chapel Praise on the Lawn June 11

Psalms of Praise Dancers from Nashville, Tennessee will be performing this Saturday, June 11, at Spurgeon Chapel's Praise on the Lawn. The free event will be held at the church, located at 100 S. Benedict Ave., Oak Ridge.

The Spurgeon Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church will hold a Praise on the Lawn event at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at the church, located at 100 SBenedict Ave., Oak Ridge.

The program will include performances by Tiffany Brinson, Cassandra Anthony, Clouds of Faith, True Light Baptist Church Choir, Oak Valley Baptist Church Choir, Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Choir, and Psalms of Praise.

Psalms of Praise, from Nashville, Tennessee, will provide liturgical dance. Other participants are being confirmed.

Area ministers will provide words of encouragement for the community and the world. A special balloon ceremony will serve as a memorial for the communities' deceased ones.

This will be the second of many events to unify the community during these times, according to a news release. Spurgeon Chapel will comply with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines of face mask and social distancing. Water and light snacks will also be provided. Bring lawn chairs as the event is outside on the lawn.

“The Singles Ministry mission is to address needs in fulfillment of Jesus' command to love our neighbor. The ministry provides assistance through identifying resources in the city such as food pantries and ministries through other necessary services for people in our community,” the release stated.

“We do this in pursuit of Christ's commandments to love and care for our neighbor,” Gail Walker, Spurgeon Chapel Single’s Ministry president, stated in the release.

“Friends and neighbors let us unite through brotherly love,” the release stated.
