Squid Game fans, the spin-off reality series Squid Game: The Challenge has officially dropped on Netflix, and wow it's intense.

Following the incredible release of the drama series in 2021 (we were obsessed), Netflix ordered a reality version of the series in June last year, and now it's finally on screens. It's got the biggest prize fund of any reality show in history, a casual $4.56million, and this is everything else you need to know about the upcoming series.

Is there a Squid Game: The Challenge trailer?

Ahead of the final episode of Squid Game: The Challenge landing on screens in the US on 6th December 2023, Netflix revealed a trailer of the final three in action, hinting at who might be crowned the final player.

As the streaming service explained in the caption, "The game that started with 456 players competing for their chance at winning 4.56 Million Dollars is now down to the final three contestants. Tune into the Squid Game: The Challenge finale event on December 6th at 9pm ET, 6pm PT to see who will take home the grand prize."

6pm PT translates to 2am GMT, so we'll have to wait until the 7th December to find out who wins.

Netflix dropped (23rd October) the full trailer for Squid Game: The Challenge and it features the return of classic games from the drama series including 'Red Light, Green Light'.

The trailer also revealed how the contestants will be "fake killed" when they lose in a game. A clip of the trailer sees a number contestants have a squib full of black ink, which they wore underneath their shirts, go off and explode when they have been eliminated.

Sharing the footage with a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), the streaming service wrote, "This November, the game you love becomes reality. #TUDUM has your first sneak peek at how the brand new competition series, Squid Game: The Challenge is coming to life."

Later, they shared another trailer in September 2023, which showed actual contestants taking part in the Squid Game: The Challenge show, and it looks intense:

What is Squid Game: The Challenge?

After the mega success of Netflix's Squid Game: The Challenge in 2021, a reality version of the series was confirmed in June 2022.

The 10-part reality series will be just like the drama series and see contestants compete in a series of challenges to win the prize fund, except without the violent ending if they don't win a challenge of course.

The series will feature 456 competitors who will be competing for the biggest prize fund in reality TV history - $4.56million (£3.65million).

So far it's unknown what the exact challenges the contestants will be facing, but we do know some of them will inspired by the challenges from the original show, as well as a few "surprising new additions".
