Four London Squire Patton Boggs partners have left the firm to join US rival Crowell & Moring, reuniting with former City head Robert Weekes.

Squire's UK litigation head Laurence Winston, London insolvency head Cathryn Williams, insolvency partner Paul Muscutt and infrastructure partner Robin Baillie have all left the firm to join Crowell's London outpost, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed.

The quartet will re-join former Squire London managing partner and financial litigation partner Weekes, who joined Crowell last month as its London head.

Prior to his departure, Weekes had led Squire's London office for a decade.

Winston joined legacy Squire Sanders in 2001 and Williams has been at Squire since 1994. Muscutt joined the firm eight years ago, while Baillie joined the firm in 2014.

In 2016, Williams led the Squire team advising administrators AlixPartners on the insolvency of suit retailer Austin Reed.

Construction partner Olivia Bateman also left Squire in December to join UK outfit Fladgate.

A spokesperson for Squire Patton Boggs said of the departures: “We wish them well and thank them for their contributions to the firm.”

The departures follow a cross-border team exit from the firm last week.

Morgan Lewis hired a team of seven lawyers, including three partners, from Squire's Washington DC office, while an eight-lawyer team also made the move to launch Morgan Lewis' first base in Abu Dhabi.

Squire also closed its Budapest office at the end of January.

The firm has recently made US hires however, picking up Crowell & Moring professional liability and financial lines head Deirdre Johnson and insurance and reinsurance co-chair Paul Kalish to its Washington DC practice.
