SRSO says suspect arrested in Navarre homicide, few details released

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday afternoon that an arrest has been made in the homicide of a 67-year-old Navarre man but released few other details about the case.

Sheriff Bob Johnson is expected to hold a press conference Monday morning to provide more details, according to the SRSO.

The suspect's identify has not been released, and the SRSO would only say that the suspect was being held in custody out of state.

SRSO spokesman Sgt. Rich Aloy said the suspect was expected to be extradited to Florida and potentially could be in custody within Santa Rosa County as early as Monday.

"But the extradition process does normally take some time," Aloy said.

The homicide investigation was launched at about 5 p.m. Nov. 14 after a man's body was found at the Pearl of Navarre Condominiums at 8499 Gulf Blvd. in Navarre.

The SRSO identified the deceased as Victor Stephen Trial but did not provide additional details about what authorities believe led to the man's death.

Earlier this week, an SRSO spokesman said information about the cause of death would not be made public while the death remained under investigation.
