St. Augustine motorcyclist killed in traffic crash in Flagler County

A 53-year-old St. Augustine man died and a female passenger on his motorcycle was seriously injured Thursday following a three-vehicle crash in Flagler County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred at 5:45 p.m. at State Road A1A and Bay Drive, according to the FHP.

A 56-year-old woman from Palm Coast was driving a sport utility vehicle south on A1A with a passenger, a 49-year-old woman from Carmichael, California. A 21-year-old St. Augustine woman was driving a pickup truck behind them.

The man and woman were riding the motorcycle north on A1A.

The SUV's driver signaled and stopped to make a left turn onto Bay Drive. The pickup's driver failed to see the SUV stopping and crashed into the rear of the SUV. The crash caused the pickup to rotate into the center of the road, striking the motorcycle, the FHP stated.

The motorcycle driver was pronounced deceased at AdventHealth Palm Coast.

Both motorcycle riders were wearing helmets.

No one else was injured.
