St. Augustine’s Rhythm & Ribs Festival celebrates 26 years

St. Augustine’s Rhythm & Ribs Festival kicks off its three-day festival in St. Augustine’s Francis Field on Friday at 5 p.m.

Hosted by the St. Augustine Sunrise Rotary Club, the annual event, now in its 26th year, will feature national musical headliners and local bands along with “mighty fine barbeque” cooked by chefs “from all over America.”

Event director Jake Parham describes the festival as a family friendly event that benefits those in need while offering families a great time. The all volunteer production awards 100 percent of its profits to charities within St. Johns County. Organizations include K9s For Warriors, St. Augustine Youth Services, St. Augustine Humane Society and SAFE Pet Rescue. International organizations include the Eleuthera Foundation, Foundation Escuela Santana 7 Tierra Negra, Columbia, S.A., Hope for Haiti, Water Ministries, Zorzor Central High School in Liberia,” and an orphanage in Mexico.

Parham says the weather “is going to be perfect.”

“I hope to see everyone here,” he said. “Come hungry.”

Bands include DJ Slim McGraw, Carpetbaggers, Honey Hounds, 14k Gold Band, Tams, Sonic Twilight, Dirty Snowmen Society, Yacht Rock Schooner, Departure Electric Avenue, Fortune Child Paper, City Hustlers, and One Good Ring.

Schedule: Friday, October, 14, 5:00 p. m. – 10:00 p. m.; Saturday, October 15, Noon to 10 p.m.; Sunday, October 16, Noon – 5:00 p.m.

Ticket prices vary. Tickets can be purchased at the gate. Children 15 and younger will be admitted for free. No re-entry will be allowed with general admission tickets.

No outside food or drinks, dogs, pets, tents, overnight camping, or overnight parking. Lawn Chairs and blankets will be allowed in designated areas.

The City of St. Augustine will run free shuttle service on Saturday, October 15, from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Pickups occur every 20-25 minutes from Broudy’s lot at 212 W. King Street with drop-off at the Historic Downtown Parking Facility/Visitor Information Center.

Parking is available in lots surrounding Francis Field. All-day parking is also available at Historic Downtown Parking Facility.
