Residents are encouraged to move all storm debris to the curb as crews will collect debris from the public right-of-way.

The first pass of construction/demolition and household goods is complete citywide, including Anastasia Island and mainland neighborhoods.

“We truly appreciate everyone’s efforts to work with us to move parked vehicles in the street, and to segregate their debris piles – it makes a huge difference in the efficiency of recovery,” Solid Waste Manager Olivia Smith said in a news release. “And because of this, we are making noticeable progress with collections. We realize there are still areas that need attention, so we appreciate your patience during these passes. Between our own Solid Waste staff and the contractor crews, we feel confident that at this pace we will get the job done within weeks and won’t quit until it has all been collected!”

Follow these guidelines for all debris in the city and for St. Johns County.

  • Place all storm debris in the right-of-way at the curb.

  • Debris must be three feet from utility boxes, mailboxes, hydrants, and other obstacles.

  • Separate vegetation from all other storm-related debris.

City crews are focused on collection of bags, cans and smaller piles of brush while city contractor DRC continues to work through heavily impacted neighborhoods, focused on vegetative collection.
