St. Charles Parish crash leaves passenger dead

ST. ROSE, La. (WGNO) — Troopers with the Louisiana State Police are investigating a crash that left one person dead in St. Charles Parish on Monday, Feb. 12.

The LSP reported that the crash happened on U.S. 61 at Interstate 310 around 9:20 a.m.

LSP officials said an initial investigation shows 42-year-old Keith Coleman was driving a Ford south on U.S. 61 while a Honda was driving north.

Colemen reportedly lost control of his car, drove across the median and hit the Honda.

A passenger in the Ford, identified by the LSP as 29-year-old Kentrell Beard, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

LSP officials said Coleman was ejected from the Ford. He suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

The driver of the Honda and a passenger suffered minor injuries and were also taken to a local hospital.

LSP officials said the investigation is ongoing, and routine toxicology samples were collected.
