St. Clair Sheriff's Department arrests 3rd person in Berlin firearms theft
BERLIN TWP. — The St. Clair County Major Crimes Unit arrested a third person and recovered two additional guns Monday night after a reported break-in in Berlin Township over the weekend involving the theft of four firearms.
According to a release from the sheriff's department, a 19-year-old Armada man was lodged in the county jail and awaiting arraignment Tuesday afternoon.
Two juveniles, whose ages and genders were not announced, were arrested Sunday night after police were called to a home in Berlin. At the time, two of the four missing firearms were recovered. All four weapons have now been accounted for.
The juveniles are former students of Armada Area Schools, which canceled school on Monday out of caution. The district announced Monday night that school would resume Tuesday.
A sheriff's spokesperson said via email that the subject arrested Monday is an adult and also a former student of the district.
Both the district and sheriff’s department reported no threats were made against any schools, students, or staff. The school district also said no current students were involved in the incident.
Further information was not immediately available.
