St. Cloud City Council candidate forum planned for Sept. 29

ST. CLOUD ― A candidate forum for St. Cloud City Council candidates in Ward 2, 3 and 4 in the November election will be hosted at City Hall on Sept. 29 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Residents are invited to attend the event in person and submit written questions to the candidates. Brief and relevant questions can be submitted in advance by email to lwvstcloud@lwvmn.org by midnight Sept. 27. The event will be broadcast online on GovTV 181 and will be recorded for later viewing.

Sandra Brakstad and Karen Larson are running for Ward 2, Jake Anderson is challenging incumbent Paul Brandmire for his Ward 3 seat and Hassan Yussuf is challenging incumbent Mike Conway for his Ward 4 seat.

The event is hosted by the League of Women Voters in the St. Cloud Area and The Arc Minnesota, an organization that advocates for the human rights of people with intellectual and development disabilities and their families.

Four other forums will be hosted in October for candidates running for the District 742 School Board, Minnesota legislative Districts 13 and 14 and the Sartell City Council.

The Sartell City Council forum will take place at the Sartell Community Center on Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. The District 742 School Board Forum will take place at the District 742 Administration Office Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. The Minnesota Legislative District 14 forum will take place at the Whitney Senior Center on Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. and the Legislative District 13 forum will take place at the Sartell Community Center on Oct. 12 at 7 p.m.

On Sept. 20 the League of Women Voters' community outreach team will be at the St. Cloud Library in the Bremer Room to talk to the community about voter registration.
