St. Cloud Rep. Dan Wolgamott announces re-election campaign for District 14B

State Rep. Dan Wolgamott, D-St. Cloud, announced his re-election campaign for district 14B in a virtual event Saturday, with support from U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar.

“It’s an honor to represent our community at the state Capitol, and I’m excited to run for re-election so I can continue getting things done for the people of St. Cloud,” Wolgamott said.

Wolgamott was elected in 2018 to represent District 14B in the Minnesota House of Representatives, defeating incumbent Republican Rep. Jim Knoblach. Wolgamott won re-election in 2020 by defeating St. Cloud City Council member Paul Brandmire with 55.9% of the vote. House District 14B includes St. Cloud and Sauk Rapids.

He was elected assistant majority leader in 2020, a position he said he was able to use in his work for St. Cloud.

“In fact, in 2021, even in divided government, I was able to author and pass 12 bills and provisions to be signed into law to make a difference for the people of St. Cloud. So, I'm so proud of what I've been able to accomplish, but I know that there's much more work ahead to improve the lives of the people I represent. And that's why I'm excited to be running for re-election,” Wolgamott told the St. Cloud Times.

Wolgamott said the importance of having leaders who can bring people together during divisive times to get work done is why he considers Sen. Klobuchar a mentor and role model.

“She fights hard for our values, but she also has those relationships with people across the aisle that have been able to make her such an effective senator for the state of Minnesota,” Wolgamott said.

“I’m proud to support Rep. Wolgamott’s re-election campaign,” Sen. Klobuchar said in the press release. “In these divisive times, we need leaders who are focused on achieving results and building a better future for all of us."

Wolgamott said he wants to build off the work he’s done to continue working to improve the lives of those he represents.

“So it just also really comes down to just wanting to continue to have a laser-like focus on delivering for the people of St. Cloud. It’s such fulfilling work and I’m excited to continue to do that,” Wolgamott said.
