St. Elizabeth Edgewood Hospital tied for the best hospital in the state of Kentucky in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings.

The northern Kentucky hospital and the University of Kentucky's Albert B. Chandler Hospital in Lexington shared the top spot in the state despite few ranked adult specialties, the full Best Hospital rankings released Tuesday by the news organization shows.

No hospitals in the Cincinnati region finished on the list's honor roll, which names the best 20 hospitals in the nation. The Cleveland Clinic was the lone Ohio hospital on the list, finishing fourth.

Though Edgewood didn't rank nationally in the top 50 in any of the 15 specialty categories listed by U.S. News & World Report, it received many "high performing" marks for concentrations such as: abdominal, back surgery, heart, colon, and diabetes. The UK hospital was the only Kentucky center to receive a national ranking from the magazine (33rd in cancer care).

St. E's Edgewood has consistently finished atop the state in the annual hospital rankings.

How Cincinnati area hospitals fared

In Ohio, the Christ Hospital Health Network finished fifth in the state behind the Cleveland Clinic main campus, Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Unversity Hospitals' Cleveland Medical Center, and the Cleveland Clinic's Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights.

Christ Hospital didn't have any ranked adult specialties but finished with four high-performing specialties according to the rankings. TriHealth's Bethesda North Hospital tied for 12th best hospital in the state, while the University of Cincinnati Medical Center tied for 16th.
