First, today's weather:

Mostly sunny and not as cold. High: 29 Low: 23.

Here are the top four stories today in Brooklyn Heights-DUMBO:

  1. Police arrested a 21-year-old woman, Christina Darling for an anti-Semitic hate crime after she shouted slurs at three Jewish children in front of a synagogue in Marina Park, Brooklyn. Darling studies psychology and education at St. Francis College in Brooklyn Heights, and a petition asking for her expulsion was signed by over 2,000 students out of a total enrollment of just 2,735. (Brooklyn Paper)

  2. Brooklynites collectively mourn the loss of the Regal Cinema on Court Street, which abruptly went dark Jan. 16. According to numerous accounts, the movie theater was a hub of Black culture, used heavily by shoppers in Downtown Brooklyn which has rapidly gentrified in recent years.
