St. Helena shooter takes his victim to hospital before being arrested for attempted murder

A St. Helena man is accused of a Friday night shooting of a St. Helena woman then driving her to the hospital for treatment of her gunshot wound.

After getting into an argument, Vincent Medlock, 20, fired shots at a 23 year-old woman as she was driving away from his home on Melody Lane, near the Penn Center. Her identity has not been revealed. One of the shots went through the victim’s back and exited her abdomen.

Upon realizing he had shot her, Medlock drove the victim to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for treatment, according to Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Maj. Angela Viens. The pair arrived at the hospital around 11:40 p.m.

The extend of the victim’s injuries required her to be transferred to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where she remains in stable condition.

Medlock was later found by police on hospital property, arrested and charged with attempted murder. He is currently being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center.
