St. Johns County Fire Rescue breaks ground on joint fire and sheriff’s operations center

The St. Johns County Fire Rescue (SJCFR) and the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office (SJSO) were delighted to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony for their new joint facility, SJCFR Station 11 and SJSO Southwest Operations Center, earlier Tuesday.

The St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners had approved a budget of $10 million for the design and construction of the 13,771-square-foot combined Fire Station and Sheriff’s Office Operations Center.

SJCFR Station 11 will house one Rescue, one Engine, one Tower, and a Battalion Chief. The groundbreaking marks the beginning of the construction phase, which is expected to be completed by Summer 2024.

With Station 11 and the SJSO Southwest Operations Center, the SJCFR and SJSO aim to provide better service and quicker response times for the county’s citizens and visitors.

“The groundbreaking of the new Fire Station and Operations Center is another milestone in our ongoing commitment to providing the highest level of service to our community,” said the Fire Rescue in a Facebook post. “We look forward to the completion of this project and the many benefits it will bring to St. Johns County.”
