St. Johns County theater groups ready for fall shows

The longest running performance to open the season has started at Limelight Theatre after a short delay because of Hurricane Ian. The local theater in St. Augustine is running “Big Fish” on select dates through Oct. 30.
Several theater groups have already had fall productions, including Flagler College, St. Augustine High School's St. Johns County Center of the Arts, Florida School for the Arts and Flagler Playhouse.

'Big Fish'
Through Oct. 30: Based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film directed by Tim Burton, "Big Fish” tells the story of Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest…and then some! Tickets are $27 for adults, $25 for seniors, and $22 for students. ‘Selfie With Sclerosis'
Oct. 15: By The Way Theater is bringing "Selfie With Sclerosis" to the Flagler Playhouse in Bunnell for one night only. This show is spoken in the Russian language, and real-time, live translation will be provided for those who do not speak Russian. Limited seats remain. ‘The Lifespan of a Fact’
Through Oct. 16: A Classic Theatre is performing “The Lifespan of a Fact” at The Waterworks, 184 San Marco Ave. This was a critically acclaimed 2018 Broadway play, this fast-paced story explodes with blistering comedy and timely relevance. Facts become blurry when they’re twisted into fiction in the high-stakes world of publishing. Tickets are $22. ‘Measure for Measure'
Oct. 19-23: "Measure for Measure" by William Shakespeare will be on stage at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19-22; and 2 p.m. Oct. 23 in Lewis Auditorium at Flagler College, 14 Granada St. This is a new adaptation, with direction by Dathan B. Williams, presented by the Flagler College Theatre Department. Tickets are $15 for general admission, $5 for non-Flagler students; and free for Flagler faculty and students. ‘Miss Beth’
Oct. 27-28: Apex Theatre Studio is putting on “Miss Beth (a retelling of Macbeth)” in the Black Box Theatre at Apex Theatre Studio, 425 West Town Place, Unit 112, in the World Golf Village area. This is a hilarious and scary retelling of Shakespeare’s Macbeth set in the cutthroat world of competitive cheerleading. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27 and Oct. 28. ‘Hollywood Concert Orchestra — The First 50 Years of Broadway’

‘Bye Bye Birdie’
Nov. 2-5: Theater students at Nease High School will perform “Bye Bye Birdie” at Nease High School. Students will bring to life the world of the 1950s and the phenomenon that became rock & roll with the musical comedy. Performances are at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 2-5 with a matinee at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 5, Tickets are $12.
’A Year with Frog and Toad’
Nov. 4-6: “A Year with Frog and Toad” will be produced by Apex Theatre Studio on Nov. 4-6 at The Waterworks. 184 San Marco Ave., in downtown St. Augustine. The production is under the direction of Joshua Sewell and Isabel Dondero. This whimsical show follows two great friends – the cheerful, popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad – through four fun-filled seasons.
