SJR State College Palatka campus on lockdown after sheriff’s office confirms shooting nearby
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said it has confirmed there was a shooting at Ragsdale Apartments on Moddy Road in Paltaka. The condition of the victim is unknown at this time.
As of the latest update by the sheriff’s office, the suspect is believed to be inside the apartment. There is a heavy police presence which includes a helicopter and drones.
In a social media alert sent out by the St. Johns River State College, a shelter in place has been ordered at the Palatka Campus until further notice.

The announcement says that the college has been advised of a shooting at an apartment complex nearby. Out of an abundance of caution and due to an ongoing police investigation, the campus is asking everyone to shelter in place until further notice.
