St. Joseph Catholic School announces new principal

Apr. 21—MONROEVILLE — St. Joseph Catholic School in Monroeville has named Tyler Lauber as its new principal, starting in the 2022-23 school year.

Lauber has worked in education and school systems for over 14 years as an intervention specialist and district administrator. He has served as the Director of Student Services for South Central Local Schools for nearly 5 years. In his role, Lauber has provided leadership and vision to ensure special education compliance and developed continuous organizational development and improvement. He has kept abreast of community services and resources; developed partnerships with parents, businesses/organizations, and other agencies in order to build awareness, support, and share resources.

Prior to his position at South Central, Lauber served as a special education coordinator for Mansfield Schools, recreation coordinator at Swanton Local Schools and an intervention specialist for several districts in Northwest Ohio. He has supervised an extensive team of intervention specialists and aides, while managing or assisting in the development of education plans. Lauber has also developed and implemented goals, strategies, techniques, and policies for students with special needs.

A few of his recent contributions include being a professional development presenter, CPI instructor, and district transition coordinator. He has developed new programs and policies to benefit students. Lauber has also developed and assisted with appropriate academic intervention and behavior management techniques for students with needs, while working with educators in developing goals and programs for the purpose of providing services with fiscal efficiency.

Lauber lives in the Greenwich area with his wife and their two daughters. They are members of the Saint Alphonsus and Saint Joseph parishes.

"My faith is very important to me and my family, and I have felt in my heart for a while that I would like to serve in a parochial school," Lauber said. "I am very excited to serve as principal at St. Joseph Catholic School. The parish and local community have been very supportive and welcoming to me and my family."

Being a graduate of The University of Toledo, Lauber earned a bachelor's of science degree in special education and teaching. He also graduated from Walden University where he earned his master's degree in special education. Lauber is currently working with the school's current principal, Deacon Mike Wasiniak, who has been serving as interim principal for the past two years. This will provide a smooth transition in leadership, and Lauber will begin working throughout the month of July in preparation for the first day of school in late August.

"We are very thankful for Deacon Mike Wasiniak's dedication and hard work while serving as interim principal, doing so in addition to his parish responsibilities and duties, which he will continue after stepping down as principal," said Fr. Chris Jesudhason, parish pastor. "Mr. Lauber is already implementing new ideas and creating a new vision for St. Joseph School. Our parish families are welcoming Mr. Lauber and he is eager to meet the students and families in the Monroeville community."
