FREMONT - St. Joseph Central Catholic has announced its 2023 commencement and student awards.

Valedictorian was John Connell and salutatorian was Madeline Michael. The next three highest ranking seniors were Ramon Sanchez, Laddie Alcocer and Marissa Wammes.

The Bishop’s Cross Award was given to one male and one female senior. The students are recognized for displaying over their high school career the virtues fostered by the Catholic institution. It is considered to be the highest-ranking award. Recipients are John Connell and Madeline Michael.

Other honors awarded were:

● Ethel Smith Outstanding Female Athlete Award, Maraissa Wammes.

● Robert Smith Outstanding Male Athlete Award, Jackson Wright.

● Alumni and Friends Award, Julissa Reyna.

● Thomas H. Rimelspach Memorial Award, Ramon Sanchez.

● Honor Award for Outstanding Loyalty and Service, Madeline Michael.

● Sara Barbour Memorial Award for Courage, Jacob Reardon.

● Excellence in Religion Award, Brandon Grahl and Marissa Wammes.

Other scholarships were announced at a school awards ceremony on May. 26.
