The St. Jude Memphis marathon has new routes: Here's what to know ahead of race day

The St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend kicks off Thursday with the big race happening on Saturday.

Over 20 years since the first race was held, the St. Jude marathon continues strong with new runners participating yearly. The race has four different sections: the marathon, the half-marathon, the 10k and the 5k. All four races will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2.

Joining the runners who participate to raise money for St. Jude will be the throng of volunteers who support them along their journeys.

Here is everything you need to know about the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend that starts Thursday.

Where does the St. Jude Memphis Marathon start?

The 5k race will start on B.B. King and Madison. Runners will head north through St. Jude's campus before heading south on Danny Thomas Boulevard. The race finishes on Union Avenue next to Autozone Park.

The 10k race will also start on B.B. King and Madison. The runners will go north, through St. Jude's campus, out on North Parkway, back on North Parkway, and head south on Danny Thomas Boulevard. The race finishes on Union Avenue next to Autozone Park.

The half-marathon will start on Beale Street and B.B. King where participants will head south. The runners will make their way up the newly reopened Riverside Drive and Tom Lee Park before passing through the St. Jude campus. The course then does an out-and-in on North Parkway before finishing on Union Avenue next to Autozone Park.

Schedule of events for St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend.

On Thursday and Friday, there will be a Health & Fitness Expo held at the Renasant Convention Center. The expo will be from noon to 7 p.m. on Thursday and noon to 8 p.m. on Friday. There will be vendors at both expo days for participants to get any racing gear they may need.

On Saturday, gear check begins at 5:30 a.m. Checked gear must be in the clear bag provided at the expo.

The first races begin at 6:55 a.m. with the 5k and 10k wheelchair races. The 5k and 10k for non-wheelchair participants is at 7 a.m.

The marathon and half-marathon wheelchair racers will start at 7:55 a.m. with the non-wheelchair racers following at 8 a.m.

At 4:30 p.m. the post-race Finish Festival closes.

What is the weather for the St. Jude Marathon on Dec. 3?

There is expected to be a high of 61 degrees on Saturday, Dec. 3 with partly sunny skies. Lows will be in the high 40s when the race begins.

What is the time limit for the St. Jude Marathon races?

Each race has a time in which all runners must complete it. The 5k has a time limit of 1 and a half hours. The 10k has a time limit of 2 hours. The half marathon has a time limit of 4 hours and 20 minutes. The marathon has a time limit of 6 and a half hours.

How do I get my St. Jude race results?

St. Jude posts the race results within 24 hours after the event is completed. All times should be posted by 4 p.m. on Sunday.
