St. Louis County to expand EV fleet with new chargers, vehicles

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis County will expand its electric vehicle fleet in the future with plans to install 41 new charging ports at county facilities and purchase an additional four to five EVs for county use.

This comes after St. Louis County received a $735,000 grant from the U.S. Department energy to invest in its EV plan.

“Saint Louis County continues to do our part by electrifying our vehicle fleet and reducing our carbon footprint,” said County Executive Dr. Sam Page. “This federal funding will help bring us closer to our goal of converting 27 percent of our light-duty vehicle fleet to electric vehicles by 2027.”

Currently, St. Louis County had three fully electric vehicles and 37 hybrid vehicles in its fleet.

The funding is part of a Biden Administration initiative that encompasses dozens of U.S. states and local communities. St. Louis County ifs the first awardee in Missouri.
