St. Nicholas Balalaika Orchestra to perform Sunday

MASSILLON – The St. Nicholas Balalaika Orchestra will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 322 Third St. The program is sponsored by the MacDowell Music Club of Canton.

The orchestra, based at St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Mogadore, has performed widely in the area for many years, but has been unable to perform for the last two years due to the pandemic. The orchestra features 18 members playing assorted Russian string instruments, with a repertoire of Russian folk music. They are joined by Kenneth Kramer, bass baritone. The director is Mary Jane Malackany.
