St. Patrick's Day 2023 in Phoenix: When the parade and fair are, plus street closures

The "greenest day in the desert" will return for its 40th year when the St. Patrick's Day Parade and Irish Faire take over downtown Phoenix on Saturday, March 11.

The St. Patrick's Day 2023 parade will kick off at 10 a.m. at Third and Oak streets and travel south toward Margaret T. Hance Park, where the fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bagpipers, Irish dancers, a color guard, automobile enthusiast clubs, twirl teams and this year's Arizona Colleen are among the 2023 parade lineup.

According to a map on the event's website, the parade starts at 10 a.m. near Monterey Park, at Third and Oak streets. Floats will travel south on Third Street, and de-staging takes place around Second and Moreland streets near Hance Park.

St. Patrick's Day fair in Phoenix

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Margaret T. Hance Park will celebrate Irish culture with live music, dancing, food and drinks, crafts and family genealogy tracing. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite; children 12 years and younger are admitted for free.

Two stages will host a slate of performers, from local Irish bands to bagpipers, poets and step-dancers. Vendors will sell Irish beers and whiskey, corned beef and cabbage, fish and chips, barbecue and shepherd's pie. Irish jewelry and kilts will be available at local artists and retailers' booths.

St. Patrick's Day parade street closures in Phoenix

According to the city's planned street closures list, here's how downtown traffic will be impacted near the event on March 11:

  • Oak Street between Third and Seventh streets: Partial closure.

  • Third Street between Virginia Avenue and Roosevelt Street: Full closure.

  • McDowell Road between Central Avenue and Seventh Street: Full closure.

When: Parade begins at 10 a.m.; fair is 10 a.m.-5 p.m on Saturday, March 11.

Where: Parade begins at Third and Oak streets in downtown Phoenix; fair is at Margaret T. Hance Park, 67 W. Culver St., Phoenix.

Admission: Parade is free. Fair is $12, $10 for age 55 and older with ID and military service members with ID. Free for children 12 and younger.
