St. Stephen's Polish National Catholic Church picnic set for Sunday [Religion Digest]

Aug. 13—The annual Polish picnic hosted by St. Stephen's Polish National Catholic Church, Cumru Township, is returning to St. Benedict's Picnic Grove, 2020 Chestnut Hill Road, Robeson Township, after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19. The event will be held Sunday from noon until 6 p.m.

Established more than 45 years ago, the picnic features primarily Polish foods as well as other picnic-related menu items. Musical entertainment will be provided by the Eddie Forman Orchestra. The well-known polka band has been entertaining audiences around the country since 1968.

Homemade Polish food made by the congregation and available that day includes pierogi, halushki, golumpki, bigos and soup. Also on site will be Konopelski's Kielbasa truck, Lily & Pips Foods and the Great American Ice Creamery. Activities will be available for the kids, as well.

Parking donation is $5 per person; children under 16 are free.

----Schwarzwald Lutheran Church, 250 Church Lane Road, Exeter Township, will worship in person on Sunday at 9:30 a.m.

—Olive Leaf Chapel, 846 Fritztown Road, Spring Township, will hold a chicken barbecue on Thursday from 4 p.m. until sold out. Cost is $10 per dinner. Desserts will be available. Pick up in the picnic grove.

—Huff's Union Church, 540 Conrad Road, Hereford Township, will hold a pig roast next Saturday from 4-6:30 p.m., to eat in the park or take home. Cost is $11, which includes a pulled pork sandwich, an ear of corn, coleslaw, a drink and dessert. Tickets can be purchased at the event or call 610-845-2626 to buy in advance.

—Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Niantic Road, Barto, will worship on Sunday at 9 a.m. Coffee & Conversation will be held at 8:30 in the Welcome Center and then again following worship.

—St John's Gernant's Church (A Federated Congregation), 13 Gernant's Church Road, Ontelaunee Township, will worship Sunday at 9:30 a.m., with Holy Communion, in Memorial Hall, 12 Gernant's Church Road, which is handicap accessible. Special music will be a piano solo by Shirley Breininger ("What A Friend We Have in Jesus.")

—The United Church of Christ in Robesonia will worship at 301 W. Penn Ave. on Sunday at 10:15 a.m. in person, by YouTube and by phone. Details can be found at 1zion.org and sprucc.org. Worship also will be available at Knoebel's Amusement Resort in Elysburg, Northumberland County. The Car Show will be held today at the church from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Food will be available to purchase. —St. John's Lutheran Church, 4125 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring, will hold in-person worship Sunday at 9 a.m., with Holy Communion and special music. Masks are optional.
