St. Vincent de Paul in Neenah expanding food pantry; grand opening set

NEENAH - St. Vincent De Paul in Neenah is expanding its food pantry, at 1425 S. Commercial St., with a grand opening set for Nov. 16, the organization announced Thursday.

The St. Vincent De Paul location has been operating since 1922, but the food pantry was a recent addition, opened in 2021. Initial funding for the pantry came from COVID-19 relief funds assigned to Community Foundation of the Fox Valley and United Way, and also from the US Venture Basic Needs Fund in partnership with the J.J. Keller Foundation, according to the food pantry website.

The pantry is free to all residents of Neenah and Menasha and serves nearly 2,000 families in those communities — and the need is growing, according to St. Vincent De Paul site director Jeremy Pingel.

The food pantry is in its final stages of renovation and, when complete, will grow from 1,500 to 20,000 square feet. The grand opening ceremony will start at 1 p.m. on Nov. 16 and include a ribbon cutting and guided tours of the new space.

In the meantime, St. Vincent De Paul is also looking for monetary donations to help fill up the new space with food and hygiene items. You can make the donations in person or through their website at svdpneenah.org.
