Stacey powers Panthers to win

Oct. 24—MANCHESTER — Griffin Stacey scored both goals to help lift E. O. Smith to a 2- 0 Central Connecticut Conference East Division boys soccer victory over East Catholic on Friday.

The Panthers (5-8 overall, 3-5 league) held a 14-4 shot advantage.

Stanley Strycharz scored goals in the 23rd and 53rd minutes while Justin Foran recorded the shutout with one save between the pipes as Coventry defeated Bolton, 2- 0, in a North Central Connecticut Conference game.

Dominick Bugnacki assisted on the first- half goal that gave the Patriots ( 7- 3- 3 overall, 6- 3- 2 league) a 1- 0 halftime lead.

Owen Dieterle dished off an assist when Strycharz added his insurance goal in the second half.

Sean Connolly broke a scoreless deadlock midway through the second half for RHAM ( 6- 4- 3 overall, 4- 2- 2 league) in a 1- 0 CCC East Division victory over East Hartford (7-4-2, 5-2-1) in Hebron.

FOOTBALL

Connor Ouellette ( 18 carries, 102 yards) rushed for four touchdowns for E.O. Smith in its 37-21 CCC Tier IV victory over Northwest Catholic.

Ouellette also went 7- for- 13 through the air for 119 passing yards.

Tyler Holcomb (19 carries, 104 yards) also ran for a touchdown to help lift the Panthers ( 4- 2 overall, 1-1 league) to the victory.
